Colorado PAAC Course

The next PAAC (Program for Avocational Archaeology Certification) archaeological survey class is scheduled for Pueblo on the weekend of September 11-14. (Sept 11 is a Friday evening session.) It is close enough to drive down each day or stay at hotels. This is but one of a number course required to receive State certification. The cost for this particular course is only $12.00. Spring 2009 Aviation Archaeology Course

AvAr will conduct its fourth annual training seminar for new field agents over the weekend of May 30/31, 2009, with a CAHS certification field exercise the following Saturday, June 6, 2009.

Upon completion of the mandatory 16 hour classroom program, attendees receive a handsome, frameable graduation certificate. Should those graduates seek official Colorado Aviation Historical Society accreditation, they must attend either the designated certification field exercise (June 6) or a similar event, approved by the program director, within the following 12 calendar months.

Offered only once each year, the cost for this exclusive opportunity is $129.00 USD. This package includes: Two days of platform instruction and one day of field work; A CD of all presentaions and student handout materials; Refreshments and lunch during both days of platform instruction.

Compare the value of this program with other similar offerings and I think you'll agree, this is the best 'bang-for-your-buck' when it comes to learning about the science, technology and nuances of aviation archaeology.

October 2008 Jimmy Camp B-24D Work Day

The end of AvAr's field season is upon and Saturday, October 11, 2008, will be our last regularly scheduled visit to the site this year. We have made some incredible progress this season, having surveyed nearly three quarters of the North ridgeline. In real terms, AvAr has surveyed more than 13,000 square feet of terrain and catalogued more than 200 artifacts. Pretty impressive by any measure!

Rocky Mountain Regional Fly-In

The annual Rocky Mountain Regional Fly-In features the Front Range Air Show and three event-filled days of aviation fun and education for the whole family.

Check out acres of aircraft on display from historic warbirds to the latest from today's aircraft manufacturers including LSAs. We also have children's activities, aviation exhibits, safety seminars and plenty of food.

2008 Rocky Mountain Metro Airport Open House

General Information:

The Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport Open House is sponsored by the Jeffco Airport Association AND the Colorado Aviation Historical Society. This event is free to the public and fun for the whole family.
The festivities of the day will include aerial demonstrations, high speed fly-bys, static displays, food and snack vendors. Also, there will be many booths for visit of local business and organizations.
The Colorado Aviation Historical Society will have a booth.
Come see the Metro North Fire Department and Rocky Mountain Metro Airport's Fire Trucks.
Activities for kids including jumping castles and obstacle course.

Various aerial demonstrations and fly-bys have been tentatively scheduled*:

Patty Wagstaff will be performing in her high-performance Extra 300S. As a six-time member of the US Aerobatic Team and the first woman to win the title of US National Aerobatic Champion, Patty is sure to put on a thrilling show!

Booth Space Reservation Information/Requirements:
There is no Booth Space Fee for this event
All Exhibitors must complete and submit an Exhibitor Agreement no later than Friday, May 30th, 2008.
All Exhibitors, unless exhibiting aircraft or other vehicle, must have a tent. The Airport can obtain a 10' x 10' tent, one table and two chairs for you for a fee of $115.00.

The Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport will permit or approve booth space at its sole discretion.
Exhibitor must furnish proof of general business liability insurance in the minimum amound of $500,000 for each occurrence and $1,000,000 aggregate, and name County of Jefferson, State of Colorado, 100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, CO 80419 as an additional insured, OR If the Exhibitor CANNOT provide Proof of Insurance described above, the Exhibitor must sign and return the Waiver of Liability included in the packet. Proof of Insurance or the Waiver of Liability must be received no later than Friday, May 30, 2008.
